Put-in-Bay on South Bass Island has been an attraction for over a hundred years--maybe since the War of 1812. The Battle of Lake Erie was led by Oliver Hazard Perry who became a national hero by defeating the British during the War of 1812. Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial is a monument to peace among Great Britain, Canada, and the United States. More details about Perry's Monument are HERE.
